Mercedes-Benz is ready and plans to release more plug-in hybrids by 2017. Mercedes-Benz recently introduced the S500 Plug-in Hybrid, but this is just the start as there are ten models scheduled to be released before 2017, which is why it’s said that Mercedes-Benz hybrid family will grow more within the next few years. These new hybrids will reach the public approximately every four months it will cover not only C-E and S-Class and including new SUV’s.

The first set will be the new C-Class Plug-in Hybrid’s these new cars will look the same as the regular models but the only difference being the rear charging port which will be integrated into the rear bumper, it will also have a new feature an active shutter grille which is said to be a great way to improve your vehicles fuel efficiency by controlling the airflow and lessening the aerodynamic drag.

Mercedes-Benz will be using a new V6 engine paired with an electric motor which carries an 8.7 kWh battery pack, this particular engine is integrated/built-in to both the 2015 CLS 400 4-door sedan as well as in the 2015 SL 400 Convertible these two vehicles/models were first introduced at the 2014 Paris Auto Show . Both these brand new models are available on showroom floors here in the U.S.

The reason why most people buy a hybrid is for the fuel economy by choosing the hybrid with the highest mpg they join the rest of the group which rave about having a hybrid. What about a hybrid from Ford, more than just a hybrid it is also considered an enjoyable ride which the 2015 Ford C-Max Hybrid SEL is touted to be partly because of its the high mpg. Having both a gasoline engine and an electric motor the C-Max SEL has a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine and a strong electric motor with an incredible 188 horsepower with a combined estimation of 40 mpg which is only the beginning of the great features this vehicle has to offer. You get a vehicle with great handling abilities and a unique interior that separates it from other hybrids offered by competitors.

The 2015 Ford C-Max Hybrid SEL is a five seat passenger 4-door hatch back wagon the price for this vehicle will be slated for the U.S. market at an MSRP starting at $31, 635, Fords plug-in hybrid version named the C-Max Energi has not yet been priced. The exciting electronic features include: a Bluetooth phone, extra audio connection(s), Fords Sync voice command system, satellite radio, smart-phone apps, a six speaker dynamic sound system with a CD player, iPod connectivity and USB ports that all work in with the My-Ford Touch interface system that uses a touch screen display.

Engine Information and Specs

The new Ford C-Max Hybrid SEL wagon runs on a 2.0-liter four cylinder fuel engine which offers 141 horsepower and 129 lbs of torque. Equipped with an electric motor which is powered by a lithium-ion battery in combination can manufacture up to 188 horsepower, this power is sent to the front wheels via a (CVT) continuously variable transmission. While the C-Max was testing performance with acceleration testing showed it can go from 0 to 60 in 8.1 seconds which in fact is 2 seconds faster than the Toyota Prius. The estimated EPA on fuel economy for the 2015 C-Max Hybrid SEL is 42 mpg city, 37 mpg highway or 40 mpg combined.

Also during brake testing the C-Max has the stopping capability from 60mph in 134 feet, which is average performance. Government crash tests for the 2015 Ford C-Max achieved four stars for overall testing for frontal and five stars for side protection; overall achieving an acceptable score for best possible protection.
